James Kirk "Jimmy" Groves went to be with his Heavenly Father on January 31 ,2013. He was born June 8, 1923. Jimmy grew up on a farm in the Columbia City farming community. Upon proudly serving his country as a United States Marine during World War II, he completed his education and worked in the structural engineering field. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ruthie J. Castle Groves, of Fort Wayne, brother, Paul Patrick Groves of Florida, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, John and Alice Groves, brother, Phillip A. Groves and sister Jane New. Service is 1 p.m. Saturday at D. O. McComb and Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, with his nephew Vernon Kevin Lough to give the eulogy, with calling 1 hour prior. Burial in Lindenwood Cemetery.
